Prometheus Music is an independent label based in Seattle, dedicated to publishing exceptional CDs on themes of space, science-fiction, and fantasy (also known as "filk" music).

Founded in 1997 by proprietor Eli Goldberg, our work has been featured on dozens of radio stations, newspapers, magazines, and even played by NASA as wake-up music for the Opportunity Mars rover. You'll also find our CDs stocked by numerous merchants and on the Internet.

All purchases made directly from Prometheus remain protected by our 100% satisfaction money-back guarantee.

Countless professionals and enthusiasts have dedicated themselves to make our productions a reality, in addition to the musicians themselves. Here's the skinny on many of our key contributors over the years.

Production

Kristoph Klover (Flowinglass Music)
Kristoph Klover operates Flowinglass Music, an independent studio, with his wife Margaret Davis, in Oakland, CA. Kristoph is a career musician and sound engineer in the San Francisco Bay Area, with over 15 years experience recording and performing psychedelic rock, Celtic, Medieval and Renaissance music.

Kristoph produced and engineered My Favorite Sings (Kathy Mar), Roundworm (Bob Kanefsky), and To Touch the Stars (various artists).
A composer and arranger for television and theatre, Michael has written original music for productions on the Disney, Showtime, PBS, Discovery and Fox networks. Michael has also conducted for CLO, the Virginia Symphony, Buffalo Harmonic, Pennsylvania Orchestra, North Carolina Symphony and at Wolf Trap. He also served as the musical director for Mister Rogers Neighborhood.

Michael oversaw the production of Julia Ecklar's original Divine Intervention album, and our CD re-release. He is presently producing a sequel CD with Julia for our label, tentatively titled Indistinguishable from Magic.

Art and Visual Design

Terri Ducay
While employed as a visual interface designer for America Online, Terri oversaw the typography on Bob Kanefsky's Roundworm CD. In her previous European life, she designed the Universal Compact Disc logo — yes, the one which appears on billions of compact discs.
A mind-bogglingly talented illustrator whose elaborate and anatomically correct illustration package appears on Bob Kanefsky's Roundworm CD.

Beckett has been long-sought out as an art director, 3D modeler and illustrator for multimedia and videogames, with consulting work for such ubiquitous clients as Sega of America, The Learning Company, and Accolade.

Richard Leeds (Big Wig Design)
Richard is the best packaging design consultant we've ever met. If you've seen Julia Ecklar's Divine Intervention or To Touch the Stars, you've seen his work.
Back when we first started out and were still mooching off our friends' good nature and artistic talent, Arlo helped Eli out in 1997 by designing Prometheus Music's logo in one sitting, and then again by creating the package design for Kathy Mar's CD in one evening in 1999.

He also designed the new web site for us!

Business and Legal Support

Margaret Davis (Flowinglass Music)
Margaret Davis is a professional San Francisco Bay Area vocalist, instrumentalist, and music instructor, who also co-runs Flowinglass Music, the music studio which produced and engineered Prometheus’s first three CD projects.

Prometheus is fortunate to enjoy pivotal musical contributions from Margaret on My Favorite Sings, Roundworm, and To Touch the Stars, as well as her organizational skills as Flowinglass’s business manager.

James S. Partridge, Esq.
James Partridge has enabled us to release increasingly complex projects that otherwise be inconceivable without his legal savvy.

Moral Support

Eric Gerds (DAG Productions)
From the beginning, Eric has been an invaluable and generous mentor and friend, sharing his now-decades of experience publishing and distributing science-fiction related music.

Alan Thiesen
When our rented Sunnyvale home and headquarters was destroyed by a suspected arsonist (finally in jail for a separate domestic violence incident), it only took Alan minutes to be hauling Eli and what was left of his belongings into his and his wife Alta's guest bedroom.
